Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon is tearing it up on the field once again rushing the ball, as the junior has rushed for 1,046 yards in six games with 13 touchdowns. He’s surpassed 100 yards five out of the six games, with two of the games seeing him go over the 250-yard mark.
It’s really no surprise to anyone that Gordon is annihilating opposing defenses, but head coach Gary Andersen recently noted that he sees something else out of his star running back this season. In addition to being the best player on the field, he’s also brought a little more leadership to the table this season.
During his first few years on campus, Gordon had Montee Ball and James White with him in the backfield, so he didn’t have a leadership load squarely on his shoulders. But with White done after last season, apparently Gordon has done a tremendous job of picking up the slack in regards to making sure this team stays disciplined.
Wisconsin is 4-2 on the season and will take on Maryland this Saturday at home inside Camp Randall.
