Elijah Holyfield is one of the top running back recruits in the class of 2015.
If that name sounds familiar, it is because he is the son of former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.
Elijah Holyfield is a 5’11, 200-pound running back who attends the Woodward Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He is ranked as the country’s 19th-best running prospect, the 22nd-best overall prospect in Georgia and the 209th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Many believe Holyfield is favoring the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes but he will be visiting the Georgia Bulldogs on November 15.
The elder Holyfield is also very happy Georgia has offered his son and is bringing him in for a visit.
“I was happy about that offer because I’m a Georgia fan,” Evander said via Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “And then I found out that he liked Georgia, so that offer was a good thing.”
However, the family won’t rush to a decision.
“I’ve realized that the most important thing is that he has got to find a team where he’s going to play,” Evander said. “Sometimes with the top teams, you don’t know what direction they’re going to go in. Anything can happen to change a situation. The coaches change and the players come and go … We’ve got to take our time to find the best situation for him.”
Holyfrield has already unofficially visited the Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers this season, will be making a trip to see the Auburn Tigers this weekend. He will visit the Michigan State Spartans on November 8 and Louisville Cardinals on November 29.
