There are a group of Seattle Seahawks players that believe Russell Wilson isn’t “black enough.”

Russell Wilson is one of the most well-liked NFL players by fans in the game today. However, it appears Wilson doesn’t even have the support of everyone on the Seattle Seahawks.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman is reporting that there is a divide in the Seahawks locker room of those that are pro-Wilson and those that are anti-Wilson.

Given Wilson’s clean-cut image, many might be curious as to how there is a group that has a problem with him.

Well, Freeman says that part of this stems from a belief that Wilson isn’t “black enough.”

He writes:

"There is also an element of race that needs to be discussed. My feeling on this—and it’s backed up by several interviews with Seahawks players—is that some of the black players think Wilson isn’t black enough. This, again, was similar to the situation with McNabb. And this, again, will be denied by Seattle people. But there is an element of this. This is an issue that extends outside of football, into African-American society—though it’s gotten better recently. Well-spoken blacks are seen by some other blacks as not completely black. Some of this is at play."

If there are those in the Seahawks locker room truly turning on Wilson because he is well-spoken, than the Seahawks have a problem on their hands.

However, the fact of the matter is that Wilson’s personality hasn’t prevented Seattle from winning in the past — their reigning Super Bowl champions for crying out loud — but Seattle is 3-3 right now and the blame game is starting.

If Wilson is able to start leading the Seahawks to some more wins, don’t be surprised if these issues go away.
