Imagine everything that might change between now and the year 2024, whether in college football or in life more generally. College athletes will likely be paid. There will be some new way of cheating that gets programs in trouble and earns them sanctions and penalties. Quite frankly, the odds are pretty good that Wake Forest and Ole Miss will have new football coaches by then.

Even if that is the case, there will be a football series between the two schools in 2024 and 2025. Impossible though it might be to imagine what might change between now and then, this series was announced this week.

One thing seems certain: the SEC will be the home of outstanding college football. The SEC’s fans will not be shy about their opinion of college football in their conference as compared to the rest of the country. Finally, many Ole Miss fans probably won’t even be aware that Wake Forest has a football program until the game itself is actually upon them.

Some things will change, some things will remain the same, and in whatever context has emerged, Wake Forest and Ole Miss will play football against one another in 2024 and 2025.
