I know what you were thinking. We could really use another mediocre bowl game. You were right, and now your wish has been granted.

The Auto Nation Cure Bowl is now a thing. Specifically, it is a bowl game that will match up a team from the mighty American Athletic Conference and the mighty Sun Belt Conference starting next year.

Brett McMurphy of ESPN reports the creation of the new Bowl game:

That’s really an attention-grabbing number. 40 bowl games. 80 college football teams will be deemed bowl eligible and play in an extra game. That truly is astounding. Even if you absolutely love bowl games and cannot get enough of even the most obscure match-ups, you would have to admit this takes the shine off the accomplishment a little bit.

What’s interesting is the fact that the NCAA keeps adding bowl games despite the mounting evidence that these lesser-known bowls do little to help small and middle level college football programs. If anything, it just costs the schools money to even get their team there to participate in the first place.

Whatever the challenges or criticisms, there will be another bowl game next season. Get excited for the opportunity to pick the winner of the Auto Nation Cure Bowl in your pool.
