NBA Rumors: Steve Nash Has Yet to Make Retirement Decision
According to sources, Lakers point guard Steve Nash hasn’t made any decisions in regard to his retirement status.
With Steve Nash ruled out for the entire 2014-15 NBA season by the Los Angeles Lakers because of back issues, many expect the future Hall of Fame point guard to immediately retire from the NBA.
That may not be Nash’s plan at the moment as Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports tweets the point guard hasn’t made a retirement decision at the moment.

Despite being out, there isn’t anything — or anyone beside himself — that can force Nash to retire from the league. And the biggest reason why Nash may not be so fast to step away from the NBA? For the 2014-15 season, the Los Angeles Lakers owe Nash $9.7 million — that’s a lot of reasons to stick around, whether he’s wanted or not.
Eric Pincus, writer and salary cap specialist for the Los Angeles Times, laid out an array of options that Nash — and the Lakers — could go about in regards to his current status and impending retirement.
It’ll be interesting to see how both Nash and the Los Angeles Lakers handle things from this point out. Regardless, at the end of the off-season, Nash and the Lakers will be no more and he’ll be free to retire without missing out on any money.
