Oakland Raiders vs. Cleveland Browns

More from NFL

The hapless Oakland Raiders have lost their last 12 games. Unlucky 13 — which would match the franchise’s longest skid — could come in Cleveland’s First Energy Stadium as the Browns look to rebound from an embarrassing 24-6 loss to previously winless Jacksonville, a defeat that also cost them the services of All-Pro center Alex Mack for the remainder of the season.

Keys to Victory

Despite the loss of Mack, the Browns’ sixth-ranked ground game is a perfect path of assault against the Raiders defense, which is 29th against the run and must replace LB Lamarr Woodley, who is lost for the season with a torn bicep. Cleveland will likely focus on using Ben Tate and either Isaiah Crowell or Terrence West; the trio couldn’t get into stride last week, which has coach Mike Pettine strongly considering using two backs. The Raiders’ league-worst running attack could find success against the Browns, who have the worst run defense in the NFL.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Browns, -7

Moneyline: Raiders, -265, Browns, +315

O/U: 43

Prediction

A closer look at the Raiders’ remaining schedule, and one has to wonder if Sunday is the last best chance for Oakland to avoid becoming the second team in league history to go 0-16. If the run game can establish itself early, QB Derek Carr can use WRs Andre Holmes and James Jones to strike downfield. The Browns will come in aware they cannot spit the bit against a previously winless team for a second consecutive week. Look for Ben Tate to have a solid afternoon and save the Browns’ honor.

Final Score: Cleveland: 28, Oakland: 20
