There has been a great deal of speculating that the Seattle Seahawks traded receiver Percy Harvin in part because of a deteriorating relationship between him and quarterback Russell Wilson.
However, Wilson is saying that his relationship with Harvin was fine, according to Pro Football Talk:
"“Percy and I never had differences,” Wilson said. “He’s a guy that, you know, we had a lot of similarities, probably, if anything. You know, guys that want to compete at the highest level, want to win every single time you step on the field. Want the ball in our hands, to make the big play and everything. So I’m not sure why the media tries to blow everything out of proportion, it’s part of it, I guess. You have to deal with it. But you also ignore it, too. Like I always tell you guys, ignore the noise. You know, Percy’s a Virginia guy and I wish nothing but the best for him.”"
There’s really nothing Wilson can do at this point besides deny the rumors and wish Percy the best. But there’s little reason to believe Wilson is shooting us straight here.
With the number of reports and rumors suggesting problems in the Seahawks locker room created by Harvin’s attitude, it’s hard to imagine he and Wilson were getting along well.
Regardless, Wilson is clearly trying to move on from Harvin and one can’t really blame him for that.
Harvin had 22 catches for 133 yards this season for Seattle before the trade.
