UCLA Expected Back In Pauley Pavilion This Weekend
By Clinton Cole
The UCLA basketball team hasn’t been in Pauley Pavilion since the flood in July.
Good news UCLA basketball fans. Pauley Pavilion should be ready to go this weekend after the flood that hit campus back in July.
As one of the most storied programs in NCAA basketball, UCLA is excited to have their home court back.
Campus was a mess after the 1921 water main in Westwood ruptured in late July. The water break created a 30-foot geyser and then a 15-foot sinkhole in Sunset Boulevard.
Pauley Pavilion wasn’t the only part of campus that was affected.

According to an article written back in August:
“Courts located on the first floor of the John Wooden Rec Center won’t be fixed until the fall. The locker rooms, the rock wall, and adjacent cardio equipment in the Arthur Ashe Student Health Center and Wellness Center are still not usable, though the Center itself is once again open. The building’s basement and one elevator are still in bad shape. The JD Morgan Center and Acosta Athletic Training Complex—still closed—should have interior repairs finished in about one or two weeks. As for outdoor spaces, Marshall Field has been resodded and Drake Stadium’s new running surface seems to have emerged unscathed from the deluge, but is under observation regardless.”
The floor of Pauley Pavilion was ripped up and both the locker room and meeting areas were replaced as well.
UCLA has been forced to practice in the nearby Student Activities Center and is eager to get back to their home court.
The Bruins are selected fourth in the preseason Pac-12 Media Poll but unranked in the USA Today Preseason Top 25 Poll. They are, however, receiving votes.
Head coach Steve Alford’s squad will look to improve on their 28-9 season last year and challenge Arizona for the Pac-12 title.
UCLA will face Azusa Pacific in an exhibition game on Halloween night in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins are set to open their regular season against Montana State on November 14th.
