Chris Archer and the Tampa Bay Rays were shocked today to learn that their manager, Joe Maddon, opted out of his contract and won’t be returning to the team in 2015.
Maddon is widely regarded as one of the best managers in MLB.
He took to Twitter to let people know how he feels. Twice.
That doesn’t seem like he is too thrilled with the situation.
Archer, who was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians, was 10-9 in 2014 with a 3.33 ERA. Archer and the Rays missed the postseason in 2014 after winning the Wild Card in 2013. The right-handed pitcher was involved in a trade to the Rays from the Chicago Cubs that sent Matt Garza to the NorthSiders.
Archer then sent out this tweet to clear a few things up:
This tweet sounds like someone may have gotten to him and asked for a nicer tweet or maybe Archer had a change of heart.
Archer wasn’t the only member of the Rays that had an opinion on the Joe Maddon news Friday.
Wil Myers provided a little insight as well:
Myers was the Rookie of the Year in 2013 after the Rays acquired him from the Kansas City Royals in the James Shields deal.
