Detroit Pistons’ Josh Smith Dunks Over Nerlens Noel (Video)
By Ed Carroll
The Detroit Pistons‘ Josh Smith flashed some of his form of old, and he powered his way to this dunk over Philadelphia 76ers rookie Nerlens Noel.
Have you seen a great NBA dunk yet today? Regardless if the answer is “yes” or “no,” we at Fansided have an awesome one for you, featuring Josh Smith of the Detroit Pistons. Smith had a big preseason game for Detroit against the Philadephia 76ers, posting 17 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, but perhaps most impressive was this dunk over rookie Nerlens Noel:

Noel was probably trying to block the dunk, and at 6’10’ he’s tall enough to block the 6’9′ Smith, but Noel saw that big men in the NBA are um, a lot stronger than those were in college. He’s also been out of action for almost a year, as he missed all of last season after being drafted with an injury, so these adjustment periods are pretty normal, particularly on defense.
Smith had a block himself and a three-pointer, playing 33 minutes while Greg Monroe rested, and appeared to be fine after a recent ankle sprain. If Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy can get Smith back to playing at a high level, the Pistons could become a force inside the paint even when center Andre Drummond isn’t playing.
