Jadeveon Clowney has a “good shot” at making his highly-anticipated return to the Houston Texans lineup after being out since injuring his meniscus in the team’s Week 1 win

The Houston Texans are likely to welcome back No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft as Jadeveon Clowney has worked his way back to top health after surgery to repair his meniscus he damaged in the regular season opener and head coach Bill O’Brien thinks he has a “good shot” at starting.

Clowney was a game-time decision for last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and there was hope he could potentially play about 20 snaps as a situational pass rusher depending on the outcome of his pregame workout, but the team didn’t think he was ready to return to game action so they went the conservative (smart) route with the league’s top pick with the hope he would be ready for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

The former South Carolina Gamecock defensive end is even listed as a starter at outside linebacker in advance of Sunday’s game against their AFC South foe, so when O’Brien says Clowney has a “good shot” at playing, the translation is he will be starting and wrecking havoc along with Whitney Mercilus who filled in admirably for him while he was out and MVP candidate J.J. Watt on the Texans front.
