The Nets ensured that two of their young players would be in Brooklyn next season, they have exercised the contracts of Sergey Karasev and Mason Plumlee.

The Brooklyn Nets have been impressed with Mason Plumlee and Sergey Karasev’s progression so far and have decided to exercise their options to ensure that they will be in black and white at least through the 2015-2016 season.

Plumlee made team USA over the summer and has improved at a rapid rate thanks to his ruthless work ethic and also thanks in large part to his mentor Kevin Garnett helping him learn about life in the NBA.

The Nets love 21 year old Sergey Karasev, who they got via trade from the Cavaliers this offseason. The Cavs were willing to trade Jarrett Jack to the Nets but the Nets made sure that the young Karasev was included in the deal as well. Karasev is young and not that experienced, but the Nets feel that he will grow into a successful NBA player.

Exercising their options shows just how confident the Nets are in Karasev and Plumlee. The Nets are hoping that both of these guys are vital parts to the future in Brooklyn. If the two impress during their current contract, they can earn larger contracts in the future.
