Lawyer For Slava Voynov’s Wife Says Her Account ‘Not Radically Different’
By Cory Buck
The lawyer for the wife of Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov says that her account won’t be ‘radically different’ from the account of Voynov’s own lawyer, who claims the events that hospitalized her were an ‘accident’.
Nick Costonika at Yahoo recently interviewed the lawyer for Kings defenseman Slava Voynov’s wife to see how her story compared to that of Voynov, whose lawyer claimed she was hospitalized due to an ‘accident’. To that end, her lawyer noted the stories wouldn’t be ‘radically different‘.

The NHL indefinitely suspended Voynov after learning about his wife’s hospitalization. The league can hardly risk bad publicity by not harshly reacting to a whiff of domestic violence after watching the scrutiny the NFL endured this past summer for its flat reaction to multiple cases of domestic violence.
For all their concern though, the NHL has not yet spoken with Voynov’s wife or her counsel, per her lawyer. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said he wanted to get to the bottom of this situation, so it stands to reason that conversation will eventually take place.
Of course, if Voynov and his wife effectively come forward with a similar story that paints her hospital visit as the result of an accident, it will directly contradict the police report following the initial emergency call, in which officers labeled the incident a domestic violence incident and arrested Voynov.
For now, the fact gathering continues, but if Voynov and his wife maintain a story that this was an accident, then it will be tough for law enforcement to move forward with a prosecution, clearing the way for Voynov to return to the Kings. Whether or not that’s a good thing resides completely in the truth of their claims.
