that a team spokesman confirmed the report of Martha Miles’ death.
She was believed to be 90 or 91. Les Miles made his scheduled appearance on ESPN’s College Game Day, which originated from Baton Rouge, pushing his appearance back about an hour.
He was interviewed by ESPN’s Samantha Ponder for about 10 minutes.
Condolences began to pour in, first from NBA Hall of Famer Karl Malone, whose son K.J. Malone is an offensive lineman for LSU:

Former LSU defensive lineman Marcus Spears, now an analyst for the SEC Network, also weighed in with his well-wishes for his former coach.

As of three hours before kickoff, Miles reportedly had not addressed the team about his mother’s passing.
Miles’ mother had been living in an assisted living facility in Baton Rouge. His father, Hope “Bubba” Miles died from a stroke in 2000 and his sister, Ann Hope Browne, was killed in a car wreck in 2011.
Les Miles was the first of four children of Martha and Hope Miles, who each had a daughter from previous marriages.
The cause of death for Martha Miles was not immediately known.
No. 24 LSU (6-2, 2-2 SEC) hosts No. 3 Ole Miss (7-0, 4-0) Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.
