Still, baseball is returning to Montreal in some capacity as a spring training game in 2015 will bring the sport back to the French-Canadian fans who saw it leave so many years ago.
According to Jon Morosi from FOX Sports, the MLB will be returning to Montreal in 2015 with a spring training contest between the Cincinnati Reds and Toronto Blue Jays scheduled to happen.
This isn’t earth shattering news, but it’s progress nonetheless. The Expos were almost World Series bound in 1994 before the infamous strike wiped out what could have been one of the most memorable seasons in baseball history.
Since they moved to Washington and became the Nationals, the Expos have been longed for in Montreal and a return may be coming. The recent turmoil in Tampa Bay may lead way to the Rays moving north in a move to bring baseball back to Montreal but for now fans will have to settle for spring training games.
