When the Washington Huskies host No. 14 Arizona State Saturday evening, they’ll do it without starting quarterback Cyler Miles, who has a concussion.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Troy Williams will make his first start for Washington on Saturday against No. 14 Arizona State after starter Cyler Miles was ruled out with a concussion.

According to the Seattle Times, Washington could have a new-look backfield against the Sun Devils. Top running backs Dwayne Washington and Lavon Coleman were both injured in last week’s loss at Oregon.

That could leave fifth-year senior Deontae Cooper and linebacker Shaq Thompson as the first options at tailback.

Williams will be Washington’s third starting quarterback this season. Sophomore Jeff Lindquist started the season-opener at Hawaii before Miles took over for the Huskies’ second game against Eastern Washington.

Williams threw his first collegiate passes last week and was 5-for-10 for 37 yards and scored his first touchdown on a 7-yard run. He’s seen action in three games this season, rushing six times for 33 yards.

Miles had completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns, with one interception, and had 124 rushing yards and three scores.

Cooper has carried the ball 20 times for 105 yards this season and also has nine receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Thompson has notched 84 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, while he’s also tied for second on the team with 53 tackles. He has a sack, an interception, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries—all for touchdowns—and his interception was a pick six.

The Huskies are 5-2, but just 1-2 in Pac-12 play. Arizona State comes in 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
