The Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers went into overtime, but the extra period didn’t last too long. Tampa Bay got the ball to start overtime, but rookie linebacker Anthony Barr forced tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins to fumble the football, then proceeded to pick the football up and return it 27 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
Barr was selected with the ninth overall pick in this past offseasons NFL Draft, and has been extremely impressive so far. The Vikings view him as their best defensive player on the roster, and that is a major honor at just 22 years of age. Making that type of a play in overtime shows the type of potential that Barr possesses, and the Vikings have to be even more excited about him after seeing that type of play.
Minnesota may not make the playoffs this year, but they aren’t too terribly far away from being in the conversation. Barr is going to help take their defense to the next level, and they have a lot of young talent on the offensive side of the football as well. All of that being said, the rookie stole the show tonight and finished the game off for the Vikings.
