Blackhawks’ Dan Carcillo Out With Knee Injury
The Chicago Blackhawks will have to spend a month without forward Dan Carcillo
The Chicago Blackhawks raised a few eyebrows this off-season when they chose to sign free agent forward Dan Carcillo to a one-year, $550,000 contract after he was dropped from his PTO with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The fourth line pest was a part of last season’s New York Rangers squad that made it to the Stanley Cup Final, but missed much of the post-season due to a ten-game suspension for punching a linesman. He has hopped from team to team throughout his career, earning very little love league-wide due to his notoriously dirty play.
The forward will miss out on at least a month of play with the Central Division franchise, though, as he is out with a knee injury for the next four weeks.
Per NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk, CSN’s Tracey Meyers confirmed that the winger was injured after going down on a hit from St. Louis Blues forward TJ Oshie. Carcillo has averaged just under eight minutes of ice time per game this season with the Blackhawks. He has one goal and only two penalty minutes in his first seven games.
While it’s nice to see that the forward might be changing his ways this year, he went down with an injury during his first stint with the Blackhawks, as well. It’s possible that the team signed him due to cap space limitations rendering them very few options this summer; should he be unable to play consistently for the team, he could find himself without a franchise once more as he nears his thirtieth birthday.
