Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried to distract the Minnesota Vikings from tying the game using Bucs cheerleaders.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored a touchdown with just over two minutes left on a Mike Glennon pass to Austin Seferian-Jenkins to take a 13-10, then they needed to hold the Minnesota Vikings from scoring. The Bucs took extreme measures to try and distract the Vikings as their possession began.

The Vikings started at their own 20-yard-line with 1:57 remaining, and during the two-minute warning, the Tampa Bay cheerleaders walked on the field and performed a routine directly in front of the Vikings.

But this didn’t quite work out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Teddy Bridgewater led the Vikings all the way to the Tampa Bay 19-yard-line, where Walsh tied the game at 13-13.

In overtime, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were given the opportunity to start with the ball, but Vikings rookie linebacker Anthony Barr was having none of it as he recovered a fumble on the first play of overtime and took it all the way into the end zone to give Minnesota a 19-13 win.

The win improved Minnesota’s record to 3-5 and continued Tampa Bay’s struggles as they are now 1-6. It’s probably safe to say that the Buccaneers are not interested in trying to use cheerleaders as a distraction technique. Clearly, Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings had been practicing for such a stunt. When you’re 1-5, you may as well try anything I guess.
