New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith had more than just a bad day on an NFL football field
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith had a horrible day on the field in the 43-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He threw three interceptions and was benched. However, after the game, Smith got more bad news.

Smith had an x-ray taken on his shoulder, further clouding his near future with his employer. Per ProFootballTalk.com, Smith was not benched due to the injury.
Geno Smith’s performance, I’d say, spoke for itself. He was replaced by backup quarterback Michael Vick, who was not all that much better. He fumbled a couple of times and was intercepted once.
Even if he is healthy, could you go back to Smith at 1-7? Fans were calling for his removal as a starter even before his disaster of a day against the Bills. I think the decision is easier at 1-7, knowing that your season is pretty much over at this point. There is not much to lose staying with Vick.
Jets coach Rex Ryan will provide an update to Smith’s shoulder on Monday but I would expect an announcement that Smith, healthy or not, will not be the starter next week at the Kansas City Chiefs. Now that of the Jets final eight games, five are on the road, maybe just maybe Smith is able to start again not having to deal with as much home field pressure as he has had so far in the first half of the season.
