Joe Johnson received great news
when he found out that his mother Diane Johnson was officially cancer free. The
star talked about how his mom is doing on Saturday to ESPN and here’s what Johnson said.
“She’s great, man. She’s cancer free,” Joe Johnson said Saturday. “[We found out] about a year ago. So she’s been great. She’s actually been living here with me in New Jersey. It’s great, man. I couldn’t ask for anything more than that.”
Johnson also talked about how much his mother has meant to him throughout his life. It’s clear that by the way Johnson describes his mother that she has meant the world to him and has always been there for him.
“She’s meant a lot. Obviously working two or three jobs to support us. It was hard. It was hard, man. But I think that drove me more than anything to be a pretty good basketball player, person and son because I hated to see her work hard.”
Johnson’s father wasn’t around while he was younger which made his mother’s role even more important to him. Johnson had to learn about responsibility and how to work hard at a very young age and that might have helped him grow into a great NBA player. Johnson’s mother being cancer free is obviously great news and Johnson will look to continue to make her proud next season.
