New England Patriots Interested In Doug Martin Trade?
By Josh Hill
New England Patriots running backs haven’t been able to stay healthy which may lead to interest in trading for Doug Martin.
The New England Patriots need to find a running back that won’t fumble the ball and won’t get injured. That’s been a lot easier said than done so far this season as the Patriots are down two running backs already and are shopping for a replacement back.

According to Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk, the Patriots are looking for help at running back and that may lead to at trade before Tuesday’s deadline.
"As the trade deadline approaches, the Patriots are indeed looking to upgrade their offense. But not at the receiver position.Per a league source, the Pats and coach Bill Belichick are looking for a running back."
While Florio doesn’t report it, logic would suggest that the Patriots may be on the phone with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the next 48 hours to try and acquire Doug Martin. On Sunday morning it was reported that the Buccaneers were receiving a ton of trade calls about their running back and the history the Bucs have with the Patriots could lead to a deal.
Tampa Bay and New England have made deals before, as players like LeGarrette Blount, Logan Mankins, and Aqib Talib have gone from one team to the other over the course of the last few years. It’s also worth mentioning that Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht is from the Patriots front office, so there are established connections there.
The two teams already made a trade this season and it’s possible that another one could be struck before the deadline on Tuesday.
