The Arizona Coyotes could be interested in having Paul Bissonnette rejoin the lineup

All Hail Biznasty2.0!

Paul Bissonnette was one of a number of fourth-line fighters that the NHL saw floating around without contracts at the start of the season. He failed to get re-signed by the Arizona Coyotes upon hitting free agency July 1st, and didn’t make the final roster cut with the St. Louis Blues after trying out for them during the preseason.

Just days after it was announced that he would be heading back to the Cardiff Devils of the EIHL, though, it seems that Bissonnette might actually get to spend some time back in the AHL- playing for Arizona’s affiliate, the Portland Pirates.

Craig Morgan of AZCentral first broke the story Sunday afternoon, reporting that Bissonnette had confirmed via text that he could be rejoining the affiliate as early as Monday. His agent confirmed that the forward was indeed involved in talks with the Pirates, and that he would hope to join the franchise soon.

Some have speculated that the signing could be due to the Coyotes’ dissatisfaction with Bissonnette’s replacement on the fourth line, newcomer B.J. Crombeen. Crombeen was traded to the Coyotes along with Sam Gagner from the Tampa Bay Lightning this past spring.

Should Bissonnette get a chance to play in Arizona once more, fans would most likely go ecstatic. The fourth liner is notoriously popular around the league for his

unique, comical Twitter presence and wild hijinks. He has kept busy while without a contract recording a podcast with former NHL-er Ryan Whitney.
