Nova left the game after going 8-19 for 156 yards with one touchdown and one interception before leaving the game. He was replaced by freshman quarterback Chris Laviano. According to coach Kyle Flood, they don’t currently know nova’s status even for practice this week but could play even if he was limited this week.
Laviano went 4-7 for 49 yards in substitution of Nova. Rutgers ended up losing 42-24 to Nebraska and now Wisconsin waits. In their first year in the Big Ten, they’ve gotten off to a 5-3 start but are just 1-3 in conference play.
The lone victory in conference is against the Michigan Wolverines. They have the Indiana Hoosiers at home after next week and then at the Michigan State Spartans and at the other Big Ten newcomer Maryland Terrapins.
Flood did say Nova was still on crutches on Sunday but that did not mean he wouldn’t be practicing this week. He just doesn’t have all the answers about his status yet.
