The Washington Redskins are searching for an answer at quarterback while Robert Griffin III continues to sit out because of injury. Kirk Cousins started the season as a fan favorite, but that didn’t last long. After struggling to lead the Washington offense, Cousins was benched for Colt McCoy.
McCoy got his first start against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, and everything was going well in the first half. He was efficient, completing eight-of-11 passes for 112 yards and getting sacked just once.
The underdog Redskins were up 3-0 late in the first quarter with a chance to increase the lead when McCoy made a costly mistake. With the ball on the Dallas 30-yard line, McCoy tried to find a double-covered Andre Roberts in the back of the end zone. The ball was under thrown and intercepted by Cowboys safety J.J. Wilcox.

The Cowboys would score before the end of the half and take a 7-3 lead into halftime. With the second half starting, McCoy needs to avoid these kinds of mistakes if he wants to lead the Redskins to an upset over their NFC East rivals.
