Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher has taken a lot of flack for having the back of his Heisman-winning quarterback, Jameis Winston, but apparently it’s giving him a boost on the recruiting trail with the parents.
Fisher and Florida State received a huge commitment on Monday night from 2015 running back Jacques Patrick, out of Orlando, Florida. Patrick is a four-star talent according to 247 Sports and it’s been noted throughout the past few days leading up to the announcement that he would indeed be FSU all the way.
Not long after the announcement was made, it was revealed by Patrick himself that his family –most importantly, his mother– took notice of how Fisher has been vehemently defending his quarterback to the media recently, and that ended up going a long way.

As you may know by now, Winston has been in the media in a negative light for a variety of reasons over the course of the past year, most recently after some autographs surfaced online. Florida State investigated the matter and later found that Winston was not in the wrong in any way..
When pressed by the media as to why Winston has not been disciplined –even though he has not been found guilty of any transgression– Fisher lashed out at the media.
While the national media wasn’t too pleased with it, apparently the mamas on the recruiting trail are.
