The Los Angeles Clippers aren’t that far away from winning a title. In fact, had it not been for a late game collapse in a game 5 loss to the
in the second round of the postseason last year, perhaps they could have reached the Finals.
The Clippers wanted to make a few upgrades this offseason and did so by signing Spencer Hawes in free agency. They also added Jordan Farmar to replace the departed Darren Collison and signed Ekpe Udoh to provide even more depth in the front court.
However, David Aldridge of NBA.com believes the Clippers could still use another veteran on the roster.
“Something’s still not quite right with the roster in L.A., and I think coach Doc Rivers knows it.” explains Aldridge. “Expect the Clippers to make a move for a veteran forward who can play both positions, a Gerald Wallace-type.”
Aldridge went on to mention Gerald Wallace himself as a potential Clipper.
Gerald Wallace has expressed a desire to stay in Boston despite their rebuilding process but having the chance to play for a contender under Doc Rivers is something he probably wouldn’t want to miss out on.
The key to Gerald Wallace is staying healthy – he missed 24 games last season. If he is used in the right role, he can help a team like the Clippers.
Last season Gerald Wallace averaged just 5.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 24.4 minutes per game, shooting 50.4% from the field, 28.7% from beyond the arc and 46.5% from the free throw line.. In his career, he’s put up 12.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 47.0% from the floor, 31.2% from three and 71.0% from the charity stripe.
