St. Louis Rams Confirm Jake Long Has Torn ACL
By Josh Hill
The hits keep on coming to the St. Louis Rams and to the career of former No. 1 overall pick Jake Long. After missing most of last season with a torn ACL, the tackle is again being shut down early in 2014.
The career of Jake Long may not yet be over, but the fact that his 2014 season is might lead some to believe he doesn’t have many days left in the NFL. For the second straight year, the St. Louis Rams will be shutting Long dong after he tore his ACL.

In Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Rams lost Long to what they feared was a torn ACL. Those fears were confirmed on Sunday night when an MRI revealed that Long had indeed torn his ACL for a second straight season. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk capped off his night by reporting the news.
The loss of Long is a blow, both to the Rams and to the career of Long. He has now lost two seasons to ACL injuries and that’s something that won’t go unnoticed by teams wanting to sign him. He had a tough time selling himself before he signed with the Rams in 2013 and he’s an even tougher sell now.
As for what is next in St. Louis, it appears that rookie Greg Robinson might be slid over to left tackle to replace Long. Robinson, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, has showed promise but Jake Long has showed what can happen to even the most promising of offensive line prospects.
