Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger trimmed his long locks and got a shave but it wasn’t a decision he made on his own

Rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger created quite the stir last week as the Tennessee Titans signal-caller showed off his unique look with his long hair and mustache in a series of “selfies” in advance of his first career start against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

However, when we saw Mettenberger prior to Sunday’s game he had a different look. A look that was much more professional and business-like as he got a haircut and shave at the urging of his head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Ken Whisenhunt told reporters on Monday that the haircut was not “a decision he made on his own,” per Titan Insider.

Many professional sports organizations have rules regarding facial hair and their appearance so this is not out of the ordinary for a player to be forced to trim his flowing locks or trim his 1970s-esque mustache, but this is just another example of the man getting us down and the NFL standing for the “No Fun League.”

Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt didn’t take kindly to Mettenberger’s fondness for showing off his old look.

Meanwhile Whisenhunt is focused on his rookie quarterbacks appearance, perhaps he should spend a bit more time figuring out how to improve the team’s offense and defense and finish out the season much stronger than their two-win first half of the year.

Mettenberger went 27-of-41 for 299 yards and two touchdowns and an interception in the 16-30 loss.
