USC Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian said that tackle Chad Wheeler suffered a torn ACL in the team’s loss to Utah.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian told the media that sophomore left tackle Chad Wheeler will miss the rest of the 2014 college football season after tearing the ACL in his right knee. Wheeler suffered the injury on just the third play of the team’s 24-21 loss to the Utah Utes.
Sarkisian on Wheeler; ``What I've showed team today about Chad. He tore ACL and then played another 7-8 plays before he took himself out.''

USC will move forward with Aundrey Walker in Wheeler’s spot, but it’s how they move forward that will define a season plagued by last minute losses. The team has now forfeited three late leads to Utah, Arizona State, and Boston College. With Wheeler down, the team is further depleted in its fading bid to contend for the Pac-12 crown.
The Trojans will move on to Washington State, then Cal before finishing the season on the road against UCLA then at home against Notre Dame. They’ll need to avoid any more letdowns against inferior opponents if they can even think about those games having any implications beyond an isolated rivalry.
