The Utah Jazz claimed fourth-year swingman Jordan Hamilton and rookie forward Joseph Ingles off waivers, the team announced. Monday. To make room for the incoming players, the team cut swingman Carrick Felix. Hamilton and Ingles will add depth but won’t likely play key roles in the rotation.

Hamilton spent the preseason with the Toronto Raptors after two-and-half seasons with the Denver Nuggets before getting traded to the Houston Rockets at the deadline last season. He’s averaged 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.3 minutes for his career. The Jazz are loading up on young assets, and the 24-year-old Hamilton fits the bill. He’s still more raw than you would like from a four-year NBA player, but he has talent.

Ingles got cut by the Los Angles Clippers after spending time overseas. The 27-year-old impressed during the 2104 FIBA World Cup and averaged 11.4 points and 3.4 assists. He spent the 2013-14 season with Israeli basketball team Maccabi Tel Aviv under now-Cavs coach David Blatt and helped Maccabi win the Euroleague Championship. He also played three seasons for FC Barcelona. An Australian, he should immediately find some common ground with first-round pick Dante Exum.

It’s a good move for a team looking to load up on assets, even if they don’t play key role in the rotation. Ingles stands in a better position to play more than Hamilton, since his spacing ability jives with Quin Snyder’s approach. Even if they don’t pan out, the Jazz are in the position of collecting assets.
