WWE Hell In A Cell 2014: Bray Wyatt Returns, Biggest Hits And Misses
By Glenn Moore
WWE Hell in a Cell saw the return of Bray Wyatt and John Cena becoming the No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Finally! A pay-per-view show worth $9.99. WWE Hell in a Cell delivered old school favor with new blood. And fans should not be complaining after this show.
WWE gave the main event to two youngsters, and they delivered.
Bray Wyatt returned to attack Dean Ambrose during the main event, helping Seth Rollins get a victory over Ambrose.
The way Wyatt came back was pure awesomeness. The hologram of a ghost hovering above the ring was perfect and the attack was timed correctly. It sets up a feud fans have been wanting for months between Ambrose and Wyatt. Repacking Wyatt was needed and his return came at the right time.
John Cena won his Hell in a Cell match against Randy Orton to become the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which is held by Brock Lesnar. When this match will happen is questionable. Survivor Series? TLC? Royal Rumble?
This pay-per-view accomplished one thing: making you want to watch Raw on Monday. More people watch Raw every Monday night than a pay-per-view. But WWE gave you a big surprise return and television production with the finish. Be grateful. Be excited.
Hits
Bray Wyatt returns
Absolutely perfect. We wondered for weeks and weeks when Wyatt would return. And we finally got him back on WWE programming.
Fans were teased with vignettes the last few weeks and it seems like Wyatt is going solo, leaving Harper and Rowan out to be on their own.
Why ruin the main event? This is question littering social media. Wyatt didn’t ruin the main event. You got what you wanted. New rivalries.
If you are sick of Orton vs. Cena, then you have no reason to complain about Wyatt returning the way he did.
Old school feel with Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
When Orton and Cena had their match half way through the night, you knew Rollins and Ambrose had something special planned for the main event.
Immediately, the match starts on top the cell. And a huge spot where Rollins and Ambrose fall off the cell onto separate announce tables. The spot reminded me of Shawn Michaels and the first Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker. Awesome.
Both men are stretchered off, but eventually Ambrose regroups to attack Rollins, who is still on his stretcher. They get back in the ring and Ambrose gets his payback against Rollins.
That’s what the show was all about. Ambrose getting his revenge on Rollins and giving most of the offense in the match.
Yes, Ambrose doesn’t get the win with Wyatt interfering, but the point was already driven home. Ambrose got his revenge. And this will not be the last time we see Ambrose vs. Rollins.
The future of the WWE is bright.

Can we please have Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler for one hour?
The two-out-of three pinfalls was great for Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler. And the swerve was that the third fall wasn’t needed. When was the last time that happened.
These two are excellent at working and I would love to see an iron-match in the future. It would give the Intercontinental Championship more of an relevant spot on a show and the opportunities are endless when it comes to near-falls and endings.
After losing his two previous matches on Raw, Ziggler gets the win. The feud should continue.
Old school heels as tag team champions
Star and Goldust told a great story with The Usos, retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship in one of the better shows on the show.
Both teams got enough offense in and the ending was old school. Papa Rhodes would be proud.
The Usos have come around on me and they are a legit tag team who are over with the crowd. Star and Goldust continue to excel as heels and the finish made fans hate to love them as champions.
It’s time for new opponents for the Dust Brothers, though. Who will step up?
Rusev stays strong
If you believed the Big Show had any shot to end Rusev’s streak, I have a bridge to sell you.
I really thought Mark Henry would turn heel, costing Big Show the match, and in a way, he did, but just didn’t turn heel.
Rusev ends up staying strong and undefeated. He can move on to another opponent. And we can all hope it’s Kurt Angle. Defend America, Kurt. Come back, please.
Misses
Cena wins again; Lensar vs. Cena…again
Sigh. Another win for Cena. Another match between Lesnar and Cena coming up.
No mas.
I mentioned before this match is yet to be determined when it will take place. But I’m guessing at the Royal Rumble.
Orton winning would give Lesnar a new opponent for the title and set up an interesting feud, especially after Orton RKO’d Paul Heyman on Raw last week.
WWE put Cena over winning in Hell in a Cell and had him looking like a beast. Are we, as fans, supposed to forget that Lesnar destroyed Cena two pay-per-views over the summer? What changed?
But, I would rather have the third title match between these two happen at the Rumble than WrestleMania. Just get it over with and move on.
The Miz and Damien Mizdow are ready for their performance. (WWE.com)
Miz, Mizdow embarrassed
The Miz goes from main-eventing WrestleMania 27 to having a stunt double who gets a bigger reaction from the crowd than he does. It’s sad. And the WWE is dropping the ball.
While losing the match isn’t a big deal when it comes to the possible storyline between Miz and Mizdow, the post-match antics were embarrassing.
Mizdow copied the movements of a fallen Miz after the match and the segment became a comedy bit. Great. Lets make a former WWE Champion look weak and laughable.
The segment could have not been done and the feud between Miz and Mizdow could have started, with Miz upset about losing the match. Instead, we were given one of the forgettable moments of the show.
Anybody care about the Bella Twins feud?
The Bella Twins were in the spotlight all summer long, leading to a heel turn by Nikki Bella. Then, the feud was given a backseat for the next couple months until Sunday night.
The stipulation is fun; the loser being the other’s personal assistant for 30 days. But with really no buildup since the summer, does anybody care?
My guess is we will be shown 30 days of humiliation segments by Nikki on Brie. I just hope WWE gets creative with the punishment.
Moore Thoughts: Paige seems to turn on every Diva she associates herself with…love how Bo Dallas called himself Bo Washington for one night (the show was in Dallas)…finally had the Cesaro Swing…surprisingly, The Authority didn’t make their presence felt much; only one segment.
