AHL Binghamton Senators‘ Brad Mills has been suspended for 20 games for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs

Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Brad Mills, forward for the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League, has been suspended for twenty games due to violation of the AHL/PHPA Performance Enhancing Substance Program.

According to NBC’s Pro Hockey Talk, Mills has already served four of the twenty game suspensions, and there is no word as to what substance he tested positive for. The league has a very strong no-tolerance policy for violations such as this.

Mills, 31, has been skating in the AHL and NHL since 2007. Originally an undrafted skater, the forward has played for the New Jersey Devils and Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL, although has never played a full season with a team. He is currently signed with the Binghamton Senators organization and has never been recalled by Ottawa to play a game. His last NHL game was during the 2013-2014 season.

The Yale graduate has only released a tweet of apology through the Professional Players Hockey Association, stating that he apologizes for the mistake he made and ‘takes full responsibility for his error’. He is the first player to be suspended under the new AHL performance-enhancing drug policy, which was enacted at the start of the 2014-2015 season.
