Destiny’s Iron Banner Getting Some Tweaks

As Bungie continues to tweak the gaming experience that is Destiny, the new Iron Banner updates will breathe a fresh feeling into the mode.

Next time the Iron Banner goes live in Bungie’s Destiny, the player vs player game mode will feel significantly different. After Bungie heard, and listened, to player feedback from the last time the event was live, some necessary tweaks are being made. Look for a familiar experience with a better feel.

First and foremost, to enter the Iron Banner, Guardians will need to at least be level 20, or paired up with a Fireteam leader that has achieved that level. A higher sense of ability will be placed on a player’s gear as well, so while lower level players can enter, the competition will be fierce.

As far as quitters, this time around losing matches will be rewarded in a sense as well. A “Medallion of Iron” will be given out to losing players who complete each match. Those medallions can be converted into reputation after a victory.

Also, two totally new features will be coming to the Iron Banner the second time around. First, gamers will be able to reforge any drops they have previously attained from the Iron Banner. New upgrades will be made available, but if you have already leveled a weapon, progress will be lost. The process will require Motes of Light.

Secondly, “Tempered” will be introduced. A reputation buff, lasting for 12 hours, will allow for gamers to more rapidly increase their rep. Should you activate the buff later in the week, it will be more potent to make up for time lost earlier in the week.

Previously earned rep will not go away this as the Iron Banner reopens, and the level cap will raise to 5.

I really enjoyed participating in the Iron Banner the first time around, and now nearly level 27, I will feel even more comfortable. It’s nice to see Bungie took some of the feedback the received and used it as well.
