After some historically huge performances in week 8, fantasy football owners will be scrambling to assemble lineups heading into week 9 which will be an especially challenging task with six teams taking their bye weeks. The Falcons and Lions are on their bye week after playing the early London game, and they’ll be joined by the Bills, Bears, Packers and Titans on the sidelines this week.

More from Arizona Cardinals

With so many teams on byes and injuries continuing to mount as we head into the second half of the NFL season, fantasy owners will be stretched thin, but well-prepared teams will have the depth to overcome the challenge and get a much-needed win for playoff positioning.  If you are forced to hit the waiver wire this week for some help to get your roster ready, in the following slides you can find the top ten names to look for.

Each week in this post, we highlight the top ten players to help make your waiver wire pickups work.  To help keep the list stocked with real options, only players who are available in over half of ESPN leagues are eligible. That means alumni like Jerick McKinnon, Kelvin Benjamin, Branden Oliver, Ahmad Bradshaw, Andre Williams, Antonio Gates, Travis Kelce, and Justin Forsett aren’t on this list even though they should be picked up if they’re still available in your league.  If you have any roster-specific questions, the fastest way to get them answered is to ask us @FansidedFantasy on twitter.

All references to points are based on ESPN standard scoring unless otherwise noted to give a common scoring system for comparison.  The percentages included after the players team is their ownership percentage as of Monday after week 8. To help as many owners as possible, at least one player is included from each primary position–QB, RB, WR, TE, and team defense.  Stay tuned to our Fantasy football hub for more coverage throughout the week as we delve deeper into each position.
