Coming off a dominating NBA Finals performance, the San Antonio Spurs sees your NBA star and raises with ball movement. No player on the Spurs averaged more than 20 points a game last season. Think about that. A team that dominated LeBron James and the Miami Heat in five games didn’t have a 20-point scorer.
They did it with ball movement that makes everyone a scoring threat and making the team virtually un-guardable. A major piece to the Spurs success over the years has been Manu Ginobili. Ginobili’s aging hasn’t been as graceful as Tim Duncan’s, but he’s still one of the best when he gets going. On NBA’s opening night Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks, he had it going.
With about three minutes to go in the third and the game tied at 69, Tony Parker found Ginobili with about a second left on a no-look pass that got Manu an open look. Ginobli fired and struck with a magnificant 3-pointer as the shot clock expired.
