Minnesota Wild make miraculous comeback in the third period with three unanswered goals against Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins may have taken their 3-1 lead a little bit too much for granted heading into the third period of Tuesday night’s game.

The Atlantic Division franchise, who had been slowly recovering from a 1-3 record to start off their season, were sitting with a comfortable two goal lead against the Central Division’s Minnesota Wild; rookie Seth Griffith had scored two goals, and the team was looking stronger than ever.

The Minnesota Wild have been a serious threat in the NHL this season, though, and came storming back in the final 20 minutes to record a 4-3 victory in regulation over the Bruins.

The team saw elevated play in the final period from the players who needed to prove themselves most, particularly returning netminder Niklas Backstrom and third line forward Nino Niederreiter. Niederreiter scored his second goal of the season- reminding fans that El Nino knows how to turn it on when he’s needed most.

The Bruins are seeing increased chemistry on the ice, and shouldn’t be too worried about the loss- they are out captain Zdeno Chara, and forward Simon Gagne has just recently been signed with the franchise. If anyone should be worried, though, it’s the other Central Division teams that are hoping to make a run for the Stanley Cup this spring- because Finnesota looks like they’re in it to win it.
