NBA Power Rankings: The Regular Season Begins

Brooklyn Nets. 21. team. 147. If the Nets make the playoffs this season, it’ll be because of the man pictured above. (No, not Mason Plumlee.) On the one hand, Deron Williams is coming off double ankle surgeries in the offseason. On the other hand, Lionel Hollins. Back on that first hand, Brook Lopez is already having problems with his feet. On the aforementioned second hand, Lionel Hollins. Switching back to the negative hand, Brooklyn lost Shaun Livingston and Paul Pierce this summer. But, again, Lionel Hollins.

I think you get it. This is an injury-prone and highly overpaid group for the most part. As much as I love Kevin Garnett and respect Andrei Kirilenko, they’re getting to that age where shuffleboard becomes the more acceptable sport of choice (in NBA years, at least). With KG likely on a minutes restriction, Plumlee not quite there yet and Lopez’s feet being made of Play-Doh, the Nets could be shorthanded in the middle, an area where Hollins has excelled as a coach. Until D-Will proves to me he’s able to lead, I’ll never buy in to this current Nets team.
. --. Previous:
