San Antonio Spurs. 1. team. 29. Even with Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter out for the season opener, you can’t put anyone in the top spot other than the defending champs. The Spurs are coming off one of the most dominant NBA Finals series in league history, they’re bringing everybody back and they’ve got the guru Gregg Popovich who could coach me and my four roommates to 20 wins in the West if he wanted to. Even with a couple of nagging injuries, the Spurs are just fine still.

To San Antonio fans, and anyone who likes watching good team basketball: enjoy this year of Spurs basketball. Tim Duncan only has one year left on his contract, Manu Ginobili won’t player forever and even Tony Parker is entering his 14th season. San Antonio brought everyone back and has as good a chance of finally repeating as they ever have, but even if they fall short, this will be a season to remember if it winds up being Duncan’s last.
. --.
