NFL Trade: New England Patriots Acquire Jonathan Casillas From Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By Josh Hill
The NFL Trade Deadline doesn’t often bring about deals, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots have struck another deal this season.
In a trade that is probably more anti-climatic than it is anything else, the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed on their second trade of the 2014 NFL season. If it goes through in time, the trade looks to be the only deal made at the NFL Trade Deadline.

New England isn’t acquiring any of the Buccaneers big guns, as Doug Martin, Vincent Jackson and Mark Barron seem to be staying put. Instead, the Patriots have farmed another player out of their minor league squad down in Tampa Bay acquiring linebacker Jonathan Casillas.
The trade is pretty anti-climatic, as the names being churned out of Tampa Bay in the form of rumors measured a lot more excitement than Jonathan Casillas. Still, the story here isn’t that the Patriots and Bucs made a trade, it’s that the Patriots have basically called up another player from the minors.
From LeGarrette Blount to Aqib Talib and most recently Tim Wright, the Patriots can’t help but poach talented players from the Buccaneers roster. Bill Belichick has been criticized for not being able to identify talent in the draft, but he sure knows a talented Buccaneers player when he sees one.
