The NFL trade deadline isn’t like the deadline in the

You don’t often see marquee names switch teams but there have been a few deals that have really helped teams out. The Tampa Buccaneers sent cornerback Aqib Talib to the New England Patriots two years ago and Talib played very well for the Patriots in his year-and-a-half with the team.
It looked like it was going to be a completely quiet deadline day on Tuesday until the Buccaneers and Patriots pulled off another deal. The Patriots, who will be without star linebacker Jerod Mayo for the rest of the year, are really lacking depth at the position. That’s why they traded for linebacker Jonathan Casillas.
The trade was obviously a very minor one and those dying for rumors and big moves were probably hoping the Bucs were dealing wide receiver Vincent Jackson or running back Doug Martin, who both can reportedly be had. There have also been several reports that safety Mark Barron is very available.
Turns out that last report is true. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bucs have dealt Mark Barron to the St. Louis Rams.
Mark Barron has been a huge disappointment for the Bucs. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star was selected with the seventh-overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft and has looked nothing like that type of player. He has 49 tackles on the season and has 225 tackles and three interceptions in his career thus far.
It will be interesting to see if he can turn things around in St. Louis. They have one of the league’s elite defensive lines so his job should be a little easier than it was in Tampa Bay.
