Tommy Bowden has a certain group of people in mind for the College Football Playoff Panel, and so he believes that Condoleezza Rice should not be a part of it.

Baby steps. We will all get through this together, but we need to take baby steps.
First we got a college football playoff. That’s good. Then we got a college football “playoff committee.” That may or may not be good, we don’t know yet. Then we placed a woman on that panel. That’s good.
Well, some people think that’s good. Count former Clemson coach Tommy Bowden as one person who does not think it’s good. Here is what he told the Knoxville News-Sentinel about the committee:
"“If the selection committee wants to get it right, and find the most knowledgeable people about the sport of football, go get people who played the game and preferably coached the game…But just because she likes to watch football doesn’t necessarily mean she knows anything about football.”"
To be fair to Bowden, many people have voiced concerns about the makeup of the committee and whether or not this is the best way to objectively select the final four teams for the playoffs.
To be fair to people who have said actual intelligent things about their concerns, however, Bowden’s feedback is worthy of nothing more than an eye-roll. There are concerns to be addressed here, to be sure, but good old fashioned sexism isn’t one of them.
Sorry Tommy.
