Clay Matthews: ‘We’ll Come Back And Be Ready’
By Evan Massey
Green Bay Packers‘ linebacker Clay Matthews said the team will come back and be ready for Week 10 of NFL action.
The Green Bay Packers are coming off of an embarrassing loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football, and are heading into the bye week at just the right time. Aaron Rodgers injured his hamstring, but isn’t expected to miss any time. Clay Matthews spoke to the media about his disappointment in the Saints game, and how the Packers will come back and be ready for their date with the Chicago Bears in Week 10 on Sunday Night Football.

Here is a video of Matthews talking to the media from PackersNews.com, and talking about being ready following the big loss.
Green Bay didn’t look good on either side of the football against the Saints, and ended up showing some of the holes that they have left to fix. The defense looked absolutely awful, but they were missing a couple of their top players. Matthews himself played a solid all-around game, but the Packers have to figure out how to play at a much higher level before they’re going to be true Super Bowl contenders.
It’s good to hear Matthews come out with this type of confidence, and hopefully he’s able to back it up. Rodgers backed up his comments telling fans to “relax” but now there is more worry following that type of an embarrassment. Matthews will need to step up his game and the Packers’ defense needs to get back to play solid football like they were just a couple short weeks ago.
New Orleans is a much better football team than their record gave them credit for, but there is still no excuse to get run off the field in a primetime game like they did. Part of the issue was Mike McCarthy’s obvious desperation coaching wise, but that can’t be blamed for the entire issue.
Expect to see Matthews come out of the bye week with a new look and work harder than he has all year. He knows that the Packers can’t afford to play that way again this year with the way that the Detroit Lions are playing. Green Bay is going to respond from that tough loss, and they will play a much better football game against the Bears.
