Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says starting quarterback Tony Romo can play if he can tolerate the pain.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who had back surgery for the second offseason in a row, took a big hit in the back on Monday night that forced him t temporarily leave the game. He then came back into the game and looked timid, going down instead of running for a first down in over time.

Still, the Cowboys other option at quarterback is Brandon Weeden and Romo being injured isn’t good for their season which has brought about a lot of optimism. The Cowboys play a dominant Arizona Cardinals team this weekend too, setting up a big clash between two of the top teams in the NFC.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones says that there is nothing holding Romo out of the game, that it all comes down to Romo’s tolerance for pain.
“At this time, we have nothing medically that would prevent him from playing,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM], via the Dallas Morning News. “What I mean by that is that there’s nothing to his injury that technically won’t function. This is a function of pain tolerance. But it’s a serious issue that you could look at people that have had a similar type injury and they haven’t played the next week, so that would cause you some concern about him playing.”
Romo has a history of being a rather tough player, playing with broken ribs in the past and coming back into the game rather stunningly on Monday night.
“If Romo’s ready to play, he can play,” Jones said. “He technically, relative to the medical aspect of it can play. Now, whether or not he can withstand the things that go with that, relative to pain or relative to executing, that’s a big issue, that’s a big if. But if he can do it, then he’ll play.”
