The Dallas Cowboys had about as bad of a night as possible Monday.

The Cowboys fell to the Washington Redskins 20-17 in overtime  and lost quarterback Tony Romo to an injury for part of the game. The loss was the Cowboys’ first since opening day and prevented them from taking sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

They also lost a key player for the season when linebacker Justin Durant suffered torn biceps. On Tuesday, Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones told reporters he believed Durant would be out for the season.

“He’s in the top three or four performers we’ve had this year on defense,” Jones said via Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas. “He plays a key position, that weakside linebacker principally. That’s a significant loss for us.”

The Cowboys made it official on Wednesday, placing Durant on Injured Reserve. To replace him, they have sign Tim Dobbins.

Although Durant missed two games earlier in the season, he led the Cowboys with 49 tackles and also had two forced fumbles and an interception. He was playing at a high level and really helped them make up for the loss of Sean Lee, who was lost for the season. Durant was the 48th-overall pick in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and spent his first four years there. After two years with the Detroit Lions, he joined the Cowboys in 2013.

Dobbins has 253 tackles, six forced fumbles and three interceptions in his career.
