The University of Georgia will immediately appeal the suspension that was handed down to star running back Todd Gurley on Wednesday.

We found out early on Wednesday morning that Georgia running back Todd Gurley has indeed been punished by the NCAA for taking money for autographs, and the university plans to appeal the ruling immediately, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
Gurley was hit on Wednesday with a punishment of missing the team’s next two games against Florida and Kentucky, community service and a demand to donate to charity. According to the NCAA, it was found that Gurley accepted in excess of $3,000 for the autographs over the course of the last two years.

The total game suspension that Gurley was hit with is four, and he has already missed two games since the initial reports of him taking the money for the signatures came out. Georgia was proactive with the suspension and gave Gurley a break once the news hit the wire.
Prior to the accusations, Gurley was the unquestioned front runner for the Heisman Trophy by most, rushing for 773 yards and eight touchdowns. He was also making quite the impact on special teams as well.
