Mack Brown is enjoying his time as a college football analyst at at ESPN, but he is still an attractive coaching candidate for any school looking to hire him.
So far the most notable name that has been linked to him is SMU, who saw head coach June Jones step down early in the season. There were reports that SMU reached out to Mack Brown and even a report that they offered him $4 million a year if he could come back and coach SMU, a school looking to get the program back amongst the elite in college football, still trying to recover from the death penalty handed down in the 1980s.
There is just one problem, Brown says no one at SMU has contacted him.
From the Dallas Morning News:
"As to returning to the sidelines to coach at SMU, Brown was a bit less enthusiastic about answering. He chuckled when I asked and said he’s very happy working TV for ESPN and ABC.“I haven’t talked to anybody,” he said.Note: He didn’t say he wasn’t interested."
They might just be waiting till after the college football season ends, which would be in December if you don’t take into account bowl season.
