New York Jets‘ quarterback Michael Vick knows that he needs to play with more control in the NFL‘s ninth week.
The New York Jets are going to be starting veteran quarterback Michael Vick this week against the Kansas City Chiefs after having a complete nightmare performance from both Geno Smith and Vick last week. Vick threw for 153 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, and also rushed for 69 yards on eight carries. He will get his chance to keep the job this week, but the Chiefs aren’t a bad football team which will make things very difficult.

At 34 years of age, Vick knows how to handle himself in pressure situations and knows that he needs to do a much better job of playing with control this week.
"“Last week, I got too greedy. I was trying to play like a 24-year-old Mike Vick. … You’ve got to play with some type of control.”"
Rex Ryan is also concerned about Vick’s play and his overall quarterback performance throughout the season, and made some comments on the subject.
"“Absolutely, it’s a concern, yes. I’ve talked to Mike about it. It has to get better, we have to improve in that area and he has to improve. Even though he’s a veteran quarterback, he just can’t turn the ball over like that.”"
It’s definitely good to see that Vick is making comments and is ready for the challenge. He has had a rough season with the Jets in both times that he has gotten into the game, and needs to come through with a strong performance this week.
While the Jets aren’t a good football team, they do have some weapons for him to work with in Eric Decker and Percy Harvin. It will be intriguing to see what type of gameplan New York comes into the game with, and how Vick responds to pressure this week.
All of that being said, the Jets are one of the worst teams in football and Vick coming in at quarterback isn’t going to change that. He can cut down on the turnovers and make things more exciting and stretch out some plays, but he isn’t going to take this team to the playoffs. New York’s season is practically over, but Vick does have a chance to improve his value and play for more time on the field.
