The Florida State Seminoles have mixed news about its running-back situation, ruling out Mario Pender and ruling in Karlos Williams.

An ankle injury will sideline Florida State running back Mario Pender when the No. 2 Seminoles visit No. 25 Louisville on Thursday.

But despite a pair of pending legal issues, running back Karlos Williams will play—and likely start—against the 6-2 Cardinals.

Barring something unforeseen, this might be the stiffest challenge remaining for Florida State before a potential ACC championship game. They close the regular season at home against Virginia, at

Miami

and home for

Boston College

and

Florida

.

Pender also missed the Oct. 18 win over Notre Dame because of the ankle problem and won’t play Thursday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Williams is the leading rusher for the ‘Noles with 378 yards and seven touchdowns on 82 attempts. He sat out FSU’s win at Syracuse on Oct. 11 because of an ankle injury.

But he took a double whammy this week as he was named as the subject of an alleged domestic battery investigation and was named in a drug deal turned robbery in June. Both cases are under investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department, but they have said Williams is not  a suspect in the robbery case.

Coach Jimbo Fisher was curt when addressing the Williams situation.

Distractions are nothing new for Florida State, however. Certainly not as long as reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston remains on campus.
